My Childminding Policy

I believe that children thrive in a safe, stimulating and happy environment. I have found that accentuating and praising good and positive behaviour works for most children, whenever possible ignoring bad behaviour. They respond to fairness and disapproval where required and quickly understand that there are house rules which mustn’t be broken. I do not use any form of physical violence to any child including my own. I use the time out method for dealing with any persistent problem (i.e. biting, hitting, throwing etc.).

I will not let any child do anything that is dangerous to themselves or others. I will not let any child damage property and I will actively discourage behaviour that makes the child unwelcome or unacceptable to other people.

I provide a good range of toys and books for all ages and provide a pleasant atmosphere where children can explore their environment in safety. I enjoy the company of children and probably get as much out of childminding as I hope they do! I see childminding as an important and valuable job and I strive to provide a professional and caring service. I am committed to childcare, open to new ideas and I understand and value the fact that each child (and each parent) is an individual and has unique qualities and needs.

I have been a registered childminder since 1994. While registered for 4, I would not mind more than 3 children at any one time as children need a great deal of time in order to thrive and be happy. I completed a Childminder Training Course in 1997 and have a current First Aid certificate. I am a member of the NCMA and fully accredited by Ofsted. >>More
